    Hi,

I just planted 2x Escallonia 'Iveyi' and 1x Hydrangea anomala subsp. petiolaris.

I have angled the Hydrangea in towards the fence a little in the hope that it will eventual start to cling to the fence. I also put down some chippings - I guess you just pour water onto the chippings and it filters through as you would normally? Should I be putting bark chippings down over all of this patch?

Any other pointers, tips people have would be great.

    Thanks for your time.

    Jumanji

Make sure you water them well when you plant anything, you could scape away the mulch to make sure it's wetting the soil properly. if we get another dry spell this year water them well again... it's difficult to over water stuff in a garden.. unless you have poorly drained soil.

Next year they won't need watering, unless we get a very dry spell!
