We have always had an ant problem, but has never been a real problem, just sprayed with ant powder once or twice a year. However this year we are now infested with the little sods.
Has anyone a permanent resolve to this problem, I don't think the normal ant powder is going to sort this out and also the costs for ant powder.

If you can find the nest, a kettle full of boiling water works a treat and kills the eggs too.

Boiling water does the trick if you know where the nest is. We had ants in the house cavity last year and I was recommended to get a couple of tubes of Nipon Ant Gel. I did and touch wood it appears to have done the trick.
You can get it at hardware shops (do these still exist everywhere?) or online at Amazon or Ebay.
I think that I paid about a fiver for two tubes. It's better than spray or powder that only kills the ant in contact with it, it's a lethal sugary gel that you spread on the ants trail, they collect it, take it back to the nest to feed all the other little blighters and hopefully Bob's your Aunty.
I still keep a tube in the shed, just in case.
