So true Loli, I watched some of the veterans on tv last night, they were so unassuming.
Good morning everyone, a lovely sunny day here, looking forward to spending some time in the garden later.
10am will see us at the vet's for Bailey's booster and annual health check, he really loves that and will probably sulk for half of the day.
Enjoy your day whatever you are doing.

          Good Morning everyone,

A really lovely morning out there. My green wheelie bin has just been emptied so time to fill it up again.

All those poor souls lost for a continent that doesn't particularly like us and still wants to bring us to our knees. Perhaps I have got it wrong? Germany seems to have won!

Have a good day all, God bless.

Morning all, gorgeous day here too

Good luck for the interview Steve. What's for ye won't go by ye, as my Granny used to say.

Have a great day out with your friends, Shiney. Pleased your finally getting some time to relax.

Maybe the politicians Moyra, but I can assure you the people round here are eternally grateful to those who fought and died to free them. When we bought our cottage here we asked the Marie (mayor) if the locals resented the Brits buying up properties and he said no as, for one, we usually buy the older properties that people with young families don't want and, more importantly, they have never forgotten how the British saved them from the German occupation. VE day and Remembrance day are national holidays in France. Three young British soldiers are buried in the cemetery in our village and their graves are immaculately kept. There's also a commemorative stone to one of them in my garden so I'm assuming he died there. Sorry, went on a bit there but I didn't want you to think that all of Europe hates us - there are many who appreciate what we did in both world wars.

Anyway, off out to tackle some more of the weeds that are taking over the garden.

Have a lovely day in the sun everyone.

I have 'liked' your post @lost_in_france , but we have nothing to let us go beyond that. (liking that is, and I couldn't find a smiley I wanted to use)

It is comforting to know, that not everyone hates us.

On a lighter note, me Interview went well, I am confident of success, but not counting @Lolimac 's chickens yet :heehee:

Thanks for all the good luck's, I am sure it helped my performance. As it stands, it will be on the internal vacancies list until next Weds, and there is 1 more to interview next Thurs, but I have heard that he has rearranged 3 times already ( he was supposed to be before me today!). All the 'vibes' I think I got, were very positive.

With any luck, and a bit of prayer, this time next week, I could be on a permanent contract again, as Assistant Manager of Window Fitters Mate (Luton). :yikes:

                  Aloha everyone,

We saw the 'D-Day 70 years on' commemoration at the Albert Hall yesterday. Very moving and well done. It showed a very good insight into the lead up to and the events of D-Day, particularly viewed from the ordinary persons' point of view.

During the day we had a lovely time wandering in the countryside and had a lovely picnic by a trickling stream with no person in sight and no sound of the outside world. There were just a pair of ducks that came to look at us and then they walked slowly up the hill next to us. A hot and sunny day.

Today has been declared a retail therapy day by the girls. First stop is the local market. Any further retail therapy shall be decided by the girls and I shall sit in the car, reading a book and listening to music - until it's time to join them for lunch!

                  Have a great day.

                  Aloha!

Morning all, hope you are well.

Sky looks full of stormy clouds, not too promising.

                      Have a great day.
