Was sent some Horseshoe Vetch seed which is the foodplant of two of Britain s Blue Butterflies. checked the seed under a microscope and rejected 60% as being unlikely to grow as shrivelled , badly discoloured, dead Weevils in some seed pods. etc.,Was told to sow in spring and chip them. almost zero germination when I did.
Collected my own wild seed in August sowed straight away without chipping and 85% germination. I have vast experience of sowing seeds. Sowed my own saved selected seed and got nearly 100% germination.

What did the supplier say when you told them?

If you haven't already done so, it's always best to get straight back to the supplier to try and resolve the issue before taking it elsewhere. If you have done that, try pursuing it further here https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.nickys-nursery.co.uk

All companies make mistakes, it's how many they make and how they sort them out that matters.

There's some people who've just joined a gardening forum to post about of a bad experience with a supplier who might feel slightly intimidated by an existing member immediately requesting that they provide a 'formal introduction' - because that's how I would feel about such a request.

Jenny gave a polite welcome and was just being friendly.

It was only a request, not a demand :dunno:

@Scrungee you have to be nicer with Jenny , we have a thread about "bullying" and every so often you have to have a dig and not the gardening kind we like on here , take a chill pill.
Like Zig already quoted, Jenny was only being friendly.

I said that's how I would feel, so feel better qualified to know my own feelings better than others.

And there was me thinking there was possibly a more friendly (rather than 'formal' way to present that request, but it's all turning into some big disagreement!

I think Jenny has done the right thing, Scrungee, in gently pointing Graham to the New Members Introduction so that he can us tell what his interests are and what his garden is like. It is better that new members do introduce themselves there first, whether formal or informal, and then post in another forum. However, you are right in saying some new members might be taken aback by such a request not realising that the suggestion is a helpful one and I don't think Graham would have been offended in the gentle way Jenny put the request.
I joined a Astronomy Forum a few weeks ago and introduced myself while also describing the equipment I had only to be brought up short by a long established member being rather brusque and superior by informing me that I had described my telescope incorrectly. As it was I hadn't and another member came in and informed the gentleman that it was he that was wrong and my description was correct. I did feel a little taken aback by a deliberate "put down" by an established member to a joining member was not a good indication of the attitude around the site. Now that we wouldn't allow on GC. So hopefully Graham will understand the reason for Jenny's request and still feel welcome and one of the Gang.
