Buddleia... should I support it in some way?

I planted a buddleia in October and it's already almost as tall as me. It hasn't flowered yet but has six long, tall stems, which are fairly sturdy, but I was wondering if it needs supporting? Or do you think it'll be okay?

I can't wait for it to flower as it's a fairly dominating presence in the garden at the moment!

    Here's a photo...

Looks as happy as Larry Star Jasmine and with the wall as support, it will be fine. The blooms will be along shortly. What one is it?

These are tough things. You sometimes see them growing half way up a building with very little to hold them in place but still they survive. :)

                GORGE - US!!!!!!!!!!!!!
                That is very apparent!!

But, I still draw the line at you using one to "support" your buddleia :heehee: Try bamboo instead ;)

I am sure it will be OK in future years but, being young, it looks as though the stems are quite thin, and have grown well, and when the flowers open that will weigh them down ... I think it might be prudent to give it some support in its first year - perhaps just a string looped loosely around it half to 2/3rds up, and secured to the wall

Thanks Kristen! I've done as you suggested. Does this look okay?
