Hi Jenny, yes, both are Alchemist. If you look at the first pic of Alchemist you can see the beginnings of the colour change at the bottom of the petals. I was looking for a climbing rose for the Abour to go on the other side to compliment "Compassion" and visited Barnsdale in Rutland. In the gardens I walked through a trellised entrance and hanging from it was "Alchemist"....perfect!!!:hapydancsmil::love30::wub2::snork:

This appears to be a good year for roses as mine have been flowering really heavily with more roses per spray/cluster than last year.:hapydancsmil::hapfeet::yes::wub2::snork:

                          Good afternoon Jenny

                          *First Great Western (Oracharpam)
                          (T) Orard 2006

This is the first of Pierre Orard's roses to be enjoyed in the UK. Rather like Tom Carruth, Pierre looks not only for reliability but also for novelty.

First Great Western has a ruffled flower of lilac and magenta-mauve shades. Once captivated by the brilliance of the blooms you are then overcome by the perfume which is stunning. The plant is quite tall reaching in the region of 4 ft and has quite a loose habit. The leaves are large dark and semi glossy with strong resistance to all rose ailments.

This lovely variety was named to celebrate the launch of the Greater Western railway franchise. Monies raised from sales of the rose benefits ClIC Sargent children's charity.
