Fused blooms can cause a tomato to grow like that underneath, and is very often accompanied by deep, vertical creasing/ribbing above.

I don't know, because those toms of mine are growing on a variety reknowned for producing lots of fused blooms which can produce the biggest tomatoes (what I'm going for) and I'm only letting those blooms(and not 'normal' ones) form into tomatoes - I've got a couple of dozen or so toms like that, some of which are really distorted from top to bottom and are known as 'uglies'.

So I cut any 'normal' blooms off, leaving only the fused ones, because what I'm after is not single toms like in the pics above that will only weigh around 2 lbs each, but giant ugly 'siamese triplet' tomatoes formed where at least 3 fused flowers have produced into a giant fused tomato weighing around 6 lbs and looking like this one (this is what I meant about deep ribbing/creasing):

There could be other factors that cause toms to produce deformed blossom ends, but every single one of mine from a fused bloom has them, and I assume it's because only one part of a fused bloom has formed into a tomato and the deformity is caused other bits that didn't come to anything.

6lb for a tomato, now that is impressive,
i have defo had some of the deep ribbing/creasing, where the stalk has dissapeared into the creases,
is there any reason why you go for the "uglies" they are well strange

i stopped growing carrots coz they were always deformed
you know on the film,, pirates of the caribeen,, davy jones who played the organ,,, his tenticles,,,, that was like my carrots :loll::loll:

I usually get toms like that from "Marmande",

mostly its the first flower from each truss, its usually a large double flower rather than the more normal looking tom flower.

"Super marmande" dont seem to do it, I guess its a little bit more refined:D

6lb of tomato salad. That might even exceed my capacity.
Couldn't you have pretended they were an exotic carrot variety? What did they taste like?
