Hi, my name's Sam (female if you're wondering :p )

I'm 27 and I live near Skipton in North Yorkshire.

I live with my partner Claire, 2 dogs and 4 guinea pigs.

My dogs are both lurchers, one is a whippet cross (Lucy aged 6) and the other is a greyhound cross (Murphy aged 2).

The guinea pigs consist of 2 "couples" with a male and female in each pair. Piglet (female) lives with Lenny, and Belle lives with Archie.

I work full time for a Building Society as a Technical Consultant, testing computer systems amongst other things.

I have a physical disability and am surprised and please to see the dedicated Disabled Gardening section on the forum :thumb: I have Charcot Marie Tooth Disease (CMT). CMT is a progressive neuromuscular condition characterised by muscle wastage in the lower legs/feet and arms/hands. I cope very well with my condition and am able to walk, although often fatigue and foot drop means I need to use AFOs (leg braces).

My hobbies include being the creator and admin of a CMT website and accompanying support forum. This take up much of my free time but I also enjoy taking care of my animals, reading (usually non-fiction!), movies /documentaries and of course gardening!

I enjoy gardening but am definitely a complete beginner! (see be prepared for lots of questions :hehe:). My garden consists of a lawn with flowerbeds all round, next to my drive in the front. The flower beds contain various shrubs / perennials and a young Cherry blossom. The back garden is completely hard landscaped with flags, decking and gravel. This is our pet friendly garden. I have lots of plants (small shrubs, perennials and herbs) in pots as well as a greenhouse and 6ft X 4ft raised bed (raised about 3ft from ground). I have lettuce, cabbage, rocket and spinach in my raised bed as well as a row off carrots. These are all being grown for the guinea pigs! I also have other bits of veg in tubs including a potato barrell, strawberries in a planter, onions and garlic in trough planters, tomatoes (tumblers), a cucumber plant and chilli plants.

Ok, If waffled on a bit so I'll stop now :hehe:

Hello and welcome to the forum. The disabled gardenng section is very new but is getting lot of interest. I had never heard of your illness before and I think it's good to lean about different illnesses so that u don't become ignorant.

Have u got any pics of the garden and the large family u have :)

thanks all for the kind welcomes!

Little Miss Road Rage: If you do want to read more, my website is in my signature. I never bore of reading about diseases I have never heard of. :thumb:

I have posted photos of my "family" in the pet section already :hehe:

Von Igelfeld: Lurchers are not terriers :hehe: Lurchers are a cross between a sighthound and another working breed, usually a terrier or a collie. Murphy is a Greyhound X Bearded Collie and Lucy is a Whippet X Bedlington Terrier. So out of 2 dogs I have quarter of a terrier if that counts :hehe:

Sam - thank you for enlightening me! :dh: And yes, a quarter does count - and Lucy is a lovely colour too.
