Hi all. I've just had to pull my peas out as they were overcome with little grubs. I noticed them starting to die off recently and now I've checked, there are horrible little grubs in the pea pods. How can I avoid this next time?

Also, I have broad beans nearby, will they attack those too? I can't see any so far. :(

    Help much appreciated!

    Hi there

Pea moth is your culprit I think. Are they about quarter of an inch with black head? They lay eggs in the flowers. If you sow your pea seeds later or earlier than you did this year then you will avoid their laying season and won't be troubled by them.

I grow mostly mangetout now JaneyG, thats not so susceptible to Pea Moth apparently and are so much easier to prepare and eat (not many of them find their way to our table as they are so yummy off the plant)
