I realise I should have introduced myself like this yesterday when I registered - so I do apologise to everyone.
I live in a small village in Germany, but am originally from Scotland. I simply adore Alexander McCall Smith´s books - especially the Scotland Street series - check them out if you have never read them - and the short stories Irregular Portuguese Verbs - then my name shall be revealed!
Back to gardening - I have a large mature garden which we inherited on buying this house 7 years ago - it´s supposed to be designed to be easy care - ahem! My main aim is to increase the colour in the garden as there is a lot of evergreen plants and shrubs and to maximise the use of perennials. I love hostas and hibiscus bushes of which I have two - one pink and one white which are just on the verge of blooming.
I am the gardener and my husband does the "heavy" work! Our wire haired fox terrier just observes...:)
Looking forward to being on the forum
    Von Igelfeld

Thank you too daitheplant - perhaps a hear a bit of welshness there? We used to live near Chepstow in S. Wales before we moved to Germany. A lot of black spot on the roses!

Good late morning to all welcoming me to GC -
feel better already Clematis about my ground elder and yes, I have mare´s tail too stubbornly growing through ground cotoneaster...an annual rip out (done last week) sort of curtails it for the season, then it starts all over again! Ho hum...:o
