this is my balcony from outside just to show you trellis ive got it along bottom up the sides and have it at top makes it nice and private and cuts the wind out a bit.in my hanging baskets i have geraniums and nasturciuns, bit of advice iff you decide to hang anything mobiles, hanging baskets make sure you use garden wire cos string rots and they will fly off your balcony

Green trellis sounds great. Thanks for the insight of where to buy this from. I have both stores in Lincoln. I'm thinking of using the trellis on the left side as theres a wall and also use it to cover half of the opening. Leaving the other half with the view of the cathedral etc.

Here is the thread for the video.

    Many thanks.

    Regards.

Hi Blind maybe a nice scented Jasmine climber we do well going up a trellis although it will not attach it's self to the trellis but it would give you something to do while you're out on your balcony and it should be more than happy in a pot.

Good luck with your balcony I'm sure with Rosa's help in no time at all you will be the envy of your neighbours.Hel.xxx.

Hi Hel and many thanks. I will look into a scented Jasmine climber. My neighbours can't see my balcony unless they're looking out their window or peeping around their balcony - lol.

    Regards.

Many thanks again. I will look into a scented clematis.

    Regards.

hi blind, just looked at your video, the trellis will look great then the large pots for your climbers, you could put an arch in front of your lounge window, i bought quite a thin green one from wilkinsons only £4.99 its a metal one, the climbers should grow ok on your balcony as its quite open and light on there. will look forward to seeing it

hi blind thought i would show you the nails i used to put my trellis up they are easy to bang the trellis up against each side of your balcony then other parts i used green garden string, bought these nails with double side from wilkinsons.

There's a flat ceiling/roof/cover on top because there's another floor above me. It extends just past my railing due to water drainage.

    Sounds good indeed.

Is it best to screw a frame around the edge for attachment of the trellis?

    Regards.

on the edges of your frame on balcony is it wood, maybe you be best to put a wood frame to make it secure, i didnt do that myself i tied all mine as my balcony has steel poles, but i used them nails for the fancy trellis to the top of my balcony, and use them nails for the side trellis, then other bits you can tie with garden string
