    dear all ,

    what do I do ?
I have a south west facing terrace in Paris and my Palmatum has lost its leaves , they have curled and become dry. He does not seem to be dying since there are some new buds . The plant is not in the shade .

What could be the cause ?

    Thanks

    Alexander

I gather this is an Acer palmatum, in which case the answer might be that it is getting too much strong sunshine. It might be that rain has fallen on the leaves and the the sun has been too strong, or you have watered it in strong sun.
Also as always with containers, check that the soil is not too dry.
    I hope it recovers!

Looking more closely at pictures, it doesn't look like an Acer, it looks like a climber- any more details of name?
Although what I said about the sun could still be true!

    No it is a Palmatum , 100 percent !

Thanks very much for the help ! I can not believe that the sun can do so much damage to a maple plant ...

I have a similar issue and the bet for my acer is wrong compost in the pot. I don't think it's getting enough nutrients as the leaves curl, especially new growth that dies back. So I'm suspecting potassium and other nutrient deficiency. In my case, I believe the compost is wrong and the roots haven't grown as they should. So I plan to repot in January into an ericaceous compost.

Either something similar or what Liz suggested. Is it in a windy spot?
