I've had this plant come up in one of my borders and I don't remember planting it.

Anyone know what it could be?

    Thanks.

It looks to me like either mint gone to flower, try crushing the leaves and see if they smell like mint.It might also be Marsh woundwort{Stachys palustris}The flowers don't look quiet right for Hedge woundwort{Stachys sylvatica}:)

No Problems Woo.I usually use my Readers Digest books and even the photos and drawings in them are not always that clear.I was mainly going by the shape of the leaf and where the flowers are placed on the stems.

We are all learning so don't worry about it too much and enjoy your book:)

PS I am probably wrong as well:D

    Thanks everyone for your help.

The leaves are a strange smell.

I have a bird table close by this plant, do you think it is from one of the seeds(Wild Bird Food) that I put on this table.

It seems to be a bit of a weed, should I dig it up?

If you look at the link below the leaves of the Hedgewort in the right hand photo are Heartshaped and yet the leaves on the left hand photo like the OP photo are thinner and longer so now I am more confused than ever.I think I need a lie down:D:old:

PS,Do the leaves smell like Mint? and yes they could have come from the bird table.I have a Chicory bush in my front garden that has the most wonderful blue flowers on it for the last four years and it must have come from my wild bird seed because I know I never bought it myself.:D
