hi i planted honeysuckle 2 years ago ,during the spring it grew really well and i was looking forward to loads of flowers but over the last month it seems to be dying from the root up. most of the leaves have turned brown and fallen off. should i dig it up and start afresh with a new one? or can it be saved. i thought honeysuckles were hardy plants.:help:

Honeysuckle is susceptible to a virus transmitted by aphids. If you have seen them on the plant, and there's been plenty of them about this year, then that may be your problem, in which case you may have to try again. Sorry

My Honeysuckle flowered well this year for the first time. Then I went away for a week and when I came back all the flowers had gone and many of the leaves were looking poorly. The Jasmine that grows next to it is looking well and is generally a much better performer, so I reckon I'll be binning my Honeysuckle and getting more Jasmine to replace it.

Honeysuckle annoys me - it's a beautiful plant and I wish I could grow it, but I can't! Next door neighbour has a beautiful specimen, growing all over a archway trellis and not a thing wrong with it. Grrrrr.

hi jayney, check your honeysuckle for powdery mildew. its a white/ grey powdery looking stuff on the leaves. if you have it and it's not bad you can spray it with a fungicide that controls it. my honeysuckle was badly affected so i chopped it right back to the ground and it has come back and now i am keeping a close eye on it for the fungus and will spray it at the first sign. hope that helps!
