Yes, technology these days is basically rubbish.

I get the impression most of it is being tested by us, the general public, at our expense.
I dont think much of it is tried out before putting it on the market, they then rely on us to point out the problems, in the hope they can sort them out, after the launch of something new.

Part of the problem with modern electronics is that they are made to a price, rather than a spec

A 20" colour TV with remote control and a basic stand was 400 quid when I started in the trade twenty-odd years ago, with a teletext version costing 450. A Mars Bar was less than 15p

Now, a TV three times bigger, High Definition, flat screen, capable of processing HDMI, DVI, DVB and even SVGA and in many cases giving internet connectivity to boot - all for less than 800 quid. A Mars Bar has got to be at least four times more expensive and smaller than they used to be...

But in the old days, a lot of it was made in Japan and the workers were paid a decent wage, I presume.
Now they get some poor kid in Korea or China to churn it out, pay them peanuts and take the profits.

I think? Mars bars are still made here.

My mother in law had powdery mildew infested courgettes, decided to make a compost pile right next to my plot of pumpkins. Needless to say they have now got mildew. Grr.
