The boss refuses to put down any sort of weed proof membrane because, and I quote "it takes too long", when my entire job is going to our 7/8 different areas and weeding! They're so big that by the time we (a team of 2) have finished weeding one area, it's already begun to grow at the start. Honestly I'm lost for words

Well, no. I mean, there's a lot of work. Roses that have been left for years, hedges that barely get touched, lots of long needed maintenance

Why don`t you suggest a trial on one of the sites, then you can prove what difference it will make.

I've suggested that, "no no we will just keep doing it as we are. "

      Time to update the resume!

If all the sites are in a state of neglect then the maintenance now being bestowed upon it will pay off and the weeds will reduce. Gardening is hardly ever about the quick fix

I understand that, but leaving until weeds set seed and hoeing over taproot weeds won't reduce it...

True. Perhaps alternate timing on the schedule could help. May as well work with the boss and make useful suggestions as opposed to upping sticks just because it's a perceived tougher option. It may be a complete embuggerance but you'll learn more both in terms of organisational skill and practical gardening skill.

Yeah, you're right. I'll have a word this week, weed killers aren't an option in Sweden either, we aren't allowed to use them.. Heh.
