Now beginning to ponder which room gets the conversion... Box room (currently office) for convenience or spare room for space.....

Life is about to become very 'different'. Make the most of every change and enjoy them whilst you can because before you know it they will be off to Uni and it will suddenly go very quiet.

And then you can finally kit out their room with Mylar, growlights, thermostatically controlled fans etc. and get back into some serious growing (mine's away this Saturday).

Lol - I'll schedule it in!

Car shopping next on list so Mrs L can fit more than her handbag in.

Thank you :) I used to see a single mum which taught me a bit (not enough I fear!) but hopefully a head start. Lots of space required, understood. have already ordered extra wardrobe and started measuring up for more, more and more storage!

Some of you may have noted a small absence of sorts by me. Unfortunately it comes with bad news in that we lost our baby at 22 weeks. It was a boy.

At the 20 week scan we saw excess fluid in the baby's chest cavity which pushed heart and lungs into a corner and was generally bad so a procedure was required. A shunt (tube) was inserted to drain the fluid and the follow up scan showed it had worked. Subsequent to this Mrs L developed a high temp however and on a chance visit to hospital she was admitted with a suspected infection. Temps up to 38.9 and heart rates of 130 were not uncommon.

A week later they had moved us to a special private room and decided the only place this infection could be was the womb and that this being so, nothing could be done.

It was a horrific time, horrifically long and difficult labour with tough complications but it is now done. It was the placenta that had become infected.

We're a bit numb but have been told that all being well, there is no reason we can't try again. It comes after Mrs L's sister had a still birth 2 years ago so a terrible event has been magnified for the family.

I'd like to say the midwives were excellent (doctors were useless but registrars and consultants good), in fact they were better than excellent they were exemplary.

I've written this not for sympathy but because others have and will go through it and I want them to know they're not alone. My charity has been Sands for two years now and will continue to be. Please look them up.
