So have any of you removed the tax disc from your car(s)?

I'm leaving mine until it expires in 11 months time, then I might use one of these

Its a swizz when the vehicle is sold as remainder of tax is not transferable ... seller gets a refund for whole unused months, and buyer has to pay for tax including the current month.

I have no idea how someone coming to my house to buy my car gets it taxed so that they can drive it home ...

You'd think in this day and age they could refund unused days.... If you sell your car on the third of the month, you pay a whole months duty, while the buyer also has to tax it for the same month.

          Tax increase by stealth?

If I haven't got it in the window I'll forget to renew the damned thing!

Nothing but a con by the DVLA when it would be simple to refund to the day

Good grief! I suppose this was predictable:

Thousands unable to renew car tax, as new system stalls

                    ... more from the BBC:

So the DVLA hadn't anticipated that everyone would go online to renew their tax discs rather than pop to the Post Office! Of course hardly anyone will go to the Post Office now, there is nothing to collect so just do it online. The DVLA idiots who hadn't planned for extra capacity on the website should be sacked for not thinking that through.

Yes, despite not needing to re-new for 11 months, I visited the new website this morning just to check if it worked and it was dreadfully slow every time I checked, what a shambles!

There was a tale that people used a Guinness label instead of a tax disc , before our every move was tracked by computer .

As I mentioned on another forum, I think the DVLA have been writing paper discs for decades and aren't used to an IT based system!
I mean honestly, what the heck is wrong with these people?!
