    Hi,

Having come from flats, I'm totally new to gardening and would like to get rid of a plant that's in my front garden (please see attached picture).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Andrew

Hmm...I would divide it with a shovel and then lever it out with a fork.

Looks like Crocosmia (aka Montbretia) - should be fairy easy to dig up. It has small corms at the root so it's easy to see when all is removed. Here is a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crocosmia

Yes, well divide certainly, but DIG with a fork, never use a fork as a lever - use a pick-axe or a crowbar.

To each their own I guess, I lever things with my fork all the time. Why would I not?!
