    Hi there,

I'm no gardener but I do know about the wonderful world of forums!

at the foot of our house there seems to be a well established root system which I thought I have inflicted enough damage on whilst digging a french drain around the house and landscaping the garden. However, after four years it has come back with a vengeance!

If it's a climbing rose of some delightful kind I shall fix a trellis to the front of the house and enjoy it's development, however my wife believes that it may be a weed!

Can you help. I have attached two photos.

Welcome to GC Claude. :) It looks like a climbing rose to me. When it becomes dormant (loses it's leaves) for the winter it would probably be an idea to prune it back by about half it's height, this will force it to send up more shoots from the base and will help it to become more bushy for next years growing season.
