I would like to have had some of the hot weather people are complaining about.
It hasn't been above 24c during this 'heatwave' and no rain for weeks.

Ive not had a problem sleeping, windows open all day and night, sleep on top of the bed and only go to bed around 1am when the air temp has dropped.

Cant say as I've noticed the nights that hot.:skp:
Infact I thought the humidity levels were quite low around here.

In the high 20s or low 30s during the day, but down to 17 or 18 at at 5.30am when I get up.

I'm sure its been warmer a few years back.

Yep dry heat is easier to stand than humidity.

But, as I say its not been that humid here.

From a 'seasoned' heat living person ... it is completely different here .... up to 36c and we are okay. We don't sit in the sun ..... we are sensible and have permanent tans (I am naturally strawberry blonde) because we live in the elements without being exposed to them. The humidity is low here.

We are fortunate we have chosen to live in a 'casa antiga' ... an old house of indeterminable age. Our walls are 60cms thick made of clay and rock and then rendered over ... that's extenal and internal ... and we have small windows with shutters. The house in general is cool. We also have 5 meter tall ceilings so the heat rises but we have ceiling fans. I do have an in-wall a/c in the kitchen/diner which is south facing and three sides open to the elements (east, south, west) and a portable which we use in the bedroom if necessary.

It's not as bad as you think ... but then again, you become accustomed to your climate ... unlike I did in the UK however ... damp, dark, wet, lack of light .... :dh:

OH and I were saying exactly that yesterday evening, Victoria. We were talking about how people living in hotter climes survive this sort of heat and we realised that you build up to high temperatures gradually - not the daft rise from 20' to 30' in the space of a day, but over weeks.

I would give my eye teeth to move away from this dank, dark climate for guaranteed sunshine, as you know:thumb:

It has been quite comfortable here now since yesterday morning, it is fresh today but sunny-but I think it will start to get uncomfortable again later on this weekend.

My sister lives in arizona and their temp are above 100c on quite a regular basis. They survive the heat by NOT going outside during the day and havin the air conditioning on 24 hrs a day. Air conditioning in the car as well. Their leccy bills are enormous!!!! I wouldn't wanna live there but its nice to visit in February!!!

    Another hot day!

Forecast said cooler today but it was actually hotter here, in fact it's still 30c in
here with the windows wide open and a fan blowing!

Heard some peole are getting heavy rain - would be glad of some for the gardens
and to cool things down a bit. Is this the only part of the country where it's still so hot?

    Looks like another sleepless night.

I am sitting here on fire. Well not literally!
It feels hotter than it has been during the day but I love the summer :)
