Hey DR, not knocking you mate, its just that I find it hard to get a grip of things that I cannot see physically working. I am still baffled by how you can type details into an on line form and it pays a bill. It is not like spending real folding money. Seems artificial to me.

If you find your system works well for you and you enjoy doing it, good luck to you. You are not harming anyone and it is your free choice to do it.

Some years ago, I had the chance to play with a digital camera. I was so impressed I spent a load of money on one. I was chuffed to bits to find out what I could do with this camera and Adobe photoshop. Iused to do a lot of writing and photography for the bike magazines, did a lot of glamour stuff as well. Nothng could burst my bubble until one day I met a very well known photograher!!!! Known him for a few years now.

He burst out laughing at me when he saw how impressed I was with my new camera. THEN the swine explained to me that my camera, albeit a couple of months old, it was already way out of date. Scarey stuff.

    Chopper.

Does anybody else find the constant race of technology a bit daunting?

I like playing with Excel as well, I was self-employed until recently and used it for my accounts and for the tax return, also I'm treasurer of a local charity and use spreadsheets to keep track of subscriptions and claim back the gift aid from the taxman. Getting money back from the taxman is a wonderful feeling and my aim is to not miss a penny. :D

Get a number to RING my so called friend before doing anything else, a conversation would soon see if the person was indeed known to me.

The only "money I get back" is the old 10p pieces I put in one of my jukeboxes, but somehow, it's a nice feeling.

    Hi Chopper,

I find that 'Out of date' is a frame of mind :D. If the piece of equipment does the job that I want it to do then it is 'in date' as far as I'm concerned. The speed that technology changes is market driven in order to make more money (and, consequently, more obsolescence).

If something new fits into my world view then I learn a bit more about it and use it if it seems worth it. In actual fact, very little comes into that bracket. Of course, it can also be called being pigheaded and parsimonious and I am quite happy to be called that as well a a grumpy old man. :hehe:
