    hi all. ( what is the best product to feed apple trees??.)
    i planted three apple trees two years ago. last year i had a great yeild . this year ,(SO FAR) i can count on my one hand how many apples are in bloom ,on the trees.is there any product i can feed them on, to give them a boost????.

    Manure (well rotted) tends to work pretty well. However I would guess that there is probably another reason (assuming they are not in pots) as they should not have fruited well last year.

    More likely they were tired out by fruiting so heavily and are gathering their strength. A good tip going forward is to wait for the june drop and then thin your drop further so you only have a couple of apples on each spur.

    Some varieties of apple naturally crop heavily one year and then less heavily the next. If you have one of these varieties than it's nothing to worry about and not much to be done about it.
    As far as feeding goes, a high potash feed in spring say April to May will encourage fruit formation. I save and bag any bonfire ash during the winter months and scatter it under my fruit trees in spring.

    Good answers so far. In my experience many varieties have a tendency to biennial bearing, ie: a heavy crop one year and a very light one the next.

    I vote for manure too as the best fertiliser, just mulch liberally under the outer canopy.
