No, no ... your idea was best. Black and red is very powerful and striking: black for mourning, red for remembrance. Perfect!
It's just me thinking that ... years down the line, when the poppy and box are still standing ... the motivation behind the purchase may fade (as our minds tend to do with the passing of years ).
Some of my scrap book pages have no writing whatsoever (visible ;) ). I the written "memories" and significance on the back of the pages, out of sight. One day I'm sure someone will uncover the hidden story behind the pictures ;) The only item I have on display to anyone who visits is a Tempus Fugit scrap item; no hidden writing there though, just the montage to speak for itself.

I can do that by putting a note in the back of the box ..

Don't know if its possible, but one suggestion - - how about putting a strip of self adhesive LED's inside the frame (hide them along the top just behind the frame); as they are low voltage (12v max) and low current (milliamps at best), you could either run them off a battery pack or hide a PSU somewhere and run the power cable to the frame (cable would be bell wire thickness, 13-strand roughly). The striking red of your poppy, lit with a brilliant white light with the stark contrast of your black background (or blank and white photo background), would make one cracker of a statement piece?

@yvonne if you intend putting yours in a box then you might have to cut the stem down as looking at the ones on the telly they look very long.I am going to display mine in a vase and will get Mr Kandy to cut them down as I don't know whether I have a vase tall enough to accomodate them.

Edited to say Mr Kandy reckons it is just the head we shall be receiving and not the spike which is good as they will be easier to have on show.I just assumed being blonde that we would actually get the whole thing, spike included:biggrin::doh:

@Kandy @**Yvonne** Here are some early pictures of your poppies :blue thumb: :heehee: I've just got back from the Tower.

The occasional person to be seen wandering around in the moat were some of the volunteers.
        P1210008.JPG

Dotted around the Tower gardens outside the moat were individual tributes of respect to family members.
        P1210003.JPG

Unrelated to the solemnity of the occasion there are two particular pictures that are of significance to just me.

        This corner of the moat
        P1200992.JPG

        And something in this picture
        P1210014.JPG

The reason is subject to the equivalent of a 'D' notice. :mute: So I'm unable to expand on it.

Afraid not, the Queen has a long memory and hasn't forgotten Shiney and Phil doing a Pub Crawl and tour of the local Bordello's.........which is why she ensures that the edges of the Axes in the Tower are kept shiney...........for Shiney.:hate-shocked::whistle::snork:

Yvonne, it's still worth going to see. They're only gradually removing them and I took those photos yesterday.
