    Well first off HI

So Yesterday was my 28th birthday and my dear parents got me a greenhouse (need to install it yet).

I am completely new to it all and find myself bewildered and unsure. When i was a young kid my grandad use to grow tomatoes, herbs, marrows and cucumber in a greenhouse I use to love picking them fresh to eat. Now being a father myself with a 4yo terror i would love to give her an oppertunity to experience it too. Since grandad pased away nearly 10 years ago i have never eat fresh tomatoes (don't seem to like anyone elses)

Now im aming to grow Tomatoes, Cucumber, herbs and a few other bits and pieces but not sure how. So in truth i am helping that people on here can help. I have purchased several books and starting to read them now.

    Well thats it for now
Feel free to e-mail etc me at any time.

My other hobbies are reptiles i keep and breed reptiles too.

    Thanks
    Tony

Hi Tony & [IMG] To GC..! :D There is a pretty good greenhouse section on here, where you might find some answers to your questions.. You will need to get it up & running pretty quick though for this years growing season.. Greenhouses are fun.. Hard work at times with the cleaning etc, but I would be lost without mine.! :thmb: Good Luck & don't be frightened to come on & ask specific questions.. We are all in this gardening lark together..!!:D

I have tried in vain to get female Oriental Fire Bellies, all the ones for sale are always male.

Have kept Whites, Grey and Green Treefrogs and Leopard Geckos in the past and many years ago when they were freely available, Retics.

Like you and reptiles, my work( growing plants) and hobby overlap.:)

Hi Tony & welcome to GC. The taste of home grown tomatoes is so good, it will be nice to remember your grandad when you make a start. Do you need any advice on where to position your greenhouse? Has it come with a base? If you get it up soon there is still time to get some tomatoes & cucumbers going this year(you will have to buy the plants from a Garden Centre as its too late to start them from seed).

Marrows would be best outside as they grow so big, but if you have space in the greenhouse then that is an option.

Many thanks. Well as for positioning i only really have one place to put it. Its one of the only places my garden gets sunshine for most of the day. No it does not come with a base. A friend recomended digging out my garden a little and put railway sleepers around the outside and fix the house on to them.
