Hello - another question (on behalf of my husband this time)

We have some roses in the garden, and there is nothing to identify them (like i say a lot of things were planted/overgrown by prev residents and we had no idea what any of them were, we got rid of a lot and left a spirea, skimmia and the rhododendron <sp> and the roses)

He wants to know if its possible to identify the rose "name" by just having a picture posted? and if so, can that be done here (or someone know where the best place to do it is? )

    thankyou very much

It looks a bit like Queen Elizabeth. It's always popular in old gardens. A large stiff upright rose? I am no expert so I'll leave it those who know better than I

Hi Kentishmaid The answer Is sometimes It is Possible,Its a bit like Detective work, you have to gather all the Clues together IE Number and shape of petals,Colour and shape of foliage ,Height and spread of
Bush,Plus the colours In the Photos we have they all slightly different,Due to that each camera shows varying shades of Colour, and rose colours also change depending on the age of the Bloom when the Photo was taken:)
there are well over 30,000 named Roses at the moment plus the 1000.s that are Deleted ever year ,and then you have the Roses that they change the names of because they are,not selling. That's about it,Hope this has been some help to you.:thumb::)

erm ok, think i'll just settle on it being a pink one  (i do hate people who dont leave things about so you know what the thing is (we are sticking the "name" things near the plants)

If you like the roses Kentishmaid does it really matter to you what variety they are.
If you just want to refer to them by name then you can name them yourself.
We've had roses called Aunt Marion, June's prize and The best of the rest.
It's quite fun to name them.
