:hehe: Not sure if my Hibiscus is getting confused or just wanting to be different..!!! :D
 I am not sure what to make of it really..!:D

A normal bloom on the same branch last week..

Then today it greeted me with this...!

I took it outside to take the pics to get the light as it lives in my greenhouse.. This branch did get a bit cold in the winter & shed most of it's leaves, but there are plenty of new ones at the top & the other side is unaffected...

I do think it looks beautiful even so.. But I am a bit nutty about Hibscus.!:D
    [IMG]

The division of colour is such a perfect straight line right through the bloom..!

    So............................ Any ideas anyone..???:D

Could it be a "sport" Marley?

Might just be the growing conditions but could be worth trying to keep that particular branch going and see what other flowers are like that grow on it.

Well apart from it getting a bit chilly as I say in the winter all is the same.. I re-potted earlier in the spring when it started getting going as usual, in my usual compost. Usual feed.. It has more flower buds to come on that branch so an interested to see as well.... I do like the effect though Pete don't you.? :hehe:

Yes Marley, its quite different, but probably unstable I'm guessing?

Will probably revert back to the original, but worth growing on just for the fun.

:) Hi there, Marley .. you know I am an Hibisucus fan like you.

I have had many strange occurences with them ... these in particular.

    1) My double 'Peach Blow' (as was identified by the American Fancy Hibiscus Society) goes between being a double and a single, sometimes in the same year at the same time.

    2) A very 'fluffy' double my friend bought me last Spring is mow going between being a single and a double and not 'fluffy'. I wonder what she'll think of it when she arrives next month.

    3) My white with red throat and yellow with red throat are all half the size in blooms now than they should be.

All of the above are the Chinese ones and are well under developed for this time of year.

On the other hand, my Newbiscus ... the 22cm across bloom super shrub which is deciduous is covered in buds and we are cosseting it to see what happens.

Maybe this is not the year of the Hibiscus? :(

Hi Catztail, Do you keep your Hibiscus outside all year or is it the tender variety, I have a blue Hibiscus which I bought very cheep from woolies, it is planted up a corner which is south facing , but exposed in the winter, yet it comes beautifully each year, but just wondered what would happen if I dug it up and put it in a pot.

Hi cabbage, I am pretty sure these ones are quite tender so I intend to bring them into the house before it freezes. I would say that as yours sounds quite hardy it would most likely be fine in a pot. Maybe see if you can get another one and try it, that way if it doesn't work you wont lose the original.
