Hey I am new here and have a problem with my apple tree - I am sure it is a common prob but I cant really work it out.

The branches have this fluffy white stuff on and the leaves are drying out , curling and becoming deformed.

I thought it could be mould but the tree is in a ventilated are of the garden and the branches are not too many.

What is this and how can i easily treat it??

    Hi Robby,

I think that your Apple tree could have woolly aphid. Have a read here about it. You could also try google apple tree pests and diseases.

    Hope this Helps!

I have the same problem on my apple tree, I noticed that it did not blossom this year, (just one solitary little pink blossom now !) It has tiny apples which I cant work out how seeing as there was no blossom but they dont look like normal. We pruned it ourselves in the Late Winter early Spring and the wooly stuff seems to have started around those areas we pruned but I have also noticed a clear slime on the branches and bark like a slug trail !

    Help anyone !

    Piccy?

Sounds like woolly aphid to me too from the description though. If you're chemically inclined then give them a spray at petal drop time and it will sort it out (umm, for next year obviously)

Thanks to all ---but the woolly aphid states that the white fluffy stuff isd waxy but this is not so it is not waxy at all!! It also states that it bleeds as such if squashed but it does not.
