Echinacea (cone flower)

    have just recieved some from T&M today and the are plug plants about 6 inches high, will it be best to put into pots till they develop better roots as I think it is too dry to put out

    I think with plugs you are supposed to pot them on ... but not sure if that applies to everything.

    Just out of interest Sue what colour are they ? Clueless1 posted a lovely picture of 'green envy' ones and i have been on the look out for some but cannot find any in stock anywhere :(

    Yes, on principle I like to grow plants on in a pot till they are a reasonable size. They have a reputation as greedy eaters so give them some regular feed as well. Once they are a decent size they will be perfectly hardy, so you can plant them out later in the year.

    think they are the purple and white ones I ordered that long ago I forgot!!!

    Pot them up first. The slugs love them as babies and they'll be devoured in no time when they're small.
