    I was down at my aunties farm on the weekend and spotted this but she didn't know what it was. Anyone?

    It's all the same tree and the spikes aren't spikey. Ta!

    Don't you just love search engines? Tried Cryptomeria and there's just the one image that looks right.......[​IMG]

      Thank you very much noisette, that's the one. Cryptomeria japonica 'Elegans' aka Japanese Plume Cedar. I may try to propagate some from the tree.

      I have no idea how to do this however! I feel a new book purchase coming on, any excuse.

      I wish you lots of luck with the propagation, nFrost! I'll have a look at my copy of Peter Thompson's bible tomorrow, and will post any useful tips therein.....

        So much for the book! I lent it to someone:nonofinger: The only bit I can remember re. conifer cuttings was that keeping the top growth humid is essential, as for all evergreens, so a plastic bag over the pot might help?
