Anyone know what this is?!

    Found a couple of these bushes in my in-laws front garden, does anyone know what they are and whether the fruit is edible? Thanks in advance.

    [​IMG] Jonodown.. :scratch: Yes I would say Quince or Ornamental Quince also known as Japonica.. Not the clearest of pics, but looks right to me too... You can make excellent Jelly or Marmalade from them... :wink:

    Thanks guys, I thought they were quinces but wanted to be sure before cooking with them.

    although it could also be pyracanthus, the berries look to small for japonica

    hmmm:scratch: nope definitely a quince, pyrocanthus usually have bunches of berries

    Quince for sure. Should have small red flowers in spring .
    My mother made quince and apple jelly (plenty recipes on the web) from them, but the fruits on their own are quite tart.
