I honstly think best to do as little as possible in January front and back garden , soil is too wet , lawn too soggy , you end up doing more harm than good

Never under value the "watchers" .... they'll be the ones who'll warn you of that avalanche just about to chase you ;) :heehee: (You'll be able to look down at them from your dizzy heights and see them running like billy-o in the opposite direction :roflol:)

As for Blue Monday ... nah, just isn't going to happen here tomorrow ... I've got the house to myself, some crafts to get on with, an Ozzy walk, with the most beautiful scenery to admire, and I'm on the hunt for an attractive branch: life is good

I managed to get down to the greenhouse yesterday afternoon before hospital visiting and watered all the pots of bulbs that are shooting due to the fact I have the heater on due to the cold weather:biggrin:

We had intended going over the lottie this morning to take some bags of grassy stuff that has come off of a friends lawn that has been raked and dressed plus we have loads of veg peelings to get over there but as everywhere is soaking wet due to all the rain we decided to have a walk over at our local resorvoir.Didnt intend doing too much walking but ended up walking all the way round (7 miles, possibly a bit more:snork:)and had a most enjoyable walk and it was surprising how many people were going round, either walking, jogging and cycling and this was at 9am:snork:

Now we have had a bite to eat we shall probably chill out and do some more tidying up of the gardens and will enjoy the snowdrops and Iris in flower before I cook the beef tonight:biggrin:

Oh and we also had a Chaffinch in the garden yesterday plus seven Long Tailed Tits feeding on the nuts:yes:

Still looking forward to some snow though and then the sunshine properly back in our lives through the summer, although it did look good up the in the sky this morning:cool:

Me mum used to tell me off for writing my name on the inside of the frozen windows ! She said when they dried my etchings were still visible ! Not sure if it was the cleaning of the windows that upset her or that I couldn't spell me name right !:smile:

If you want revenge on a mate, get hold of his car keys, take your shoes and socks off and put some foot prints on the inside of the car windscreen as if you were on your back in the passenger side.

Then just wait for when his Mrs is in the car when the windscreen steams up :snork:

Must admit I hate being cold, but I can get motivated at this time of year if its cold but dry.
Mostly I'll be pruning back and lopping some of the trees I have, its almost a yearly, or biyearly, process keeping them in bounds, so as to keep them to acceptable size in the situations they are growing.

I think my biggest hate of winter gardening is MUD, being on clay its not much fun.
