My main task for today is to pick up a new external hard drive and get my mac backed up.

I am probably too late now @capney, but I can highly recommend the Western Digital My Cloud Mirror - - fantastic bit of kit that acts as a 3Tb backup drive as well as a 3Tb NAS drive that you can access via the web, smartphones etc. It works a bit like the iCloud or OneDrive, but has no ongoing subscription and the data is stored on your own equipment at home.

Well, at least I got the Western digital bit correct. So far looking good, full time machine backup took a few hours but at least it,s secure. I now need to double backup new picture and new videos to the two other hard drives. I shall note your advise for future if it all goes pear shape again.

I doubt you will go far wrong with the WD drive - they are top notch, and one of only three makes I would entertain to be honest (the others being Samsung and Seagate)

You might also be interested in All-way-sync which is a fantastic (and free) program that helps synchronise the data across your drives. I use it mostly for photos, videos and music - I have a few different machines for everyone in the family, so its handy that the files on all of them are kept up to date.

Don't hesitate to shout if you need help with it :)

Mr Kandy is working on the lounge at the moment filling in holes that he has made round the doors windows and sockets etc to make the plaster nice and even after he has sanded it down and I am busy getting the dinner sorted (toad in the hole) and got the car filled with rubbish from the loft to take to the tip.

Have got my Parsnip seed floating in water and been checking on the greenhouse bulbs as they are shooting quiet well:)

Apart from that we are having a quiet day so to speak:biggrin:

I'm finishing off the rebuild of the old PC which is headed for Little C's room, and then it's general network refining - I have a sneaky feeling my router is on its last legs (to be fair, it is the thick end of ten years old)
