Am I right in thinking you are close to Dundee Nigel? My mum was from there and my family in her side are in Dundee, Coupar Angus, Blairgowerie (not sure of spelling) and Stonehaven - probably a million miles from you, I didn't get an A in geography, lol x

Stonehaven is only 17 miles north of me on A92.

        Welcome aboard Nigel :sign0016:

Its a tough old growing environment you have there - a hop and a skip away from the north sea, so cold winds will be your main enemy I suppose? I imagine that drainage won't be too much of an issue though - unless of course the granite bedrock is close to the soil surface.

Anyway - you will get plenty of advice and help on here, and hopefully plenty of good banter and friendship :blue thumb: - the members here are the best I have ever come across on any forum.

Hi (soz, dont know your name) Fat Controller, yes, the environment is not too good and I have nigh on everything growing in pots here.

It certainly is a friendly forum. I am an asst Admin in a parrot forum and belong to another parrot forum which is very similar. Friendly, humour, and very very helpful. and they even put up with me being a bit crazy.

I am still finding my ay around and know that I will have my fair share of questions but also hope that I can help others, weather it be gardening, computing, photography or whatever.

I intend to put up a post today re my heathers. No point in taking photos of them as they are nothing special and pot grown but am sure I might be able to get some help to enable me to grow better heather.
