    Hi!

Slugs are completely destorying my courgette plants - the fruit hasn't come out yet but I'm worried than when it does they're just going to be eaten :( Does anyone know any humane ways of dealing with slugs? I'd rather not kill them if there's any other option!

    Thanks :)

Hi Sal, Humane methods of slug removal would involve night hunts with a torch and bucket, pick them up by hand and in the morning take them to the countryside and let them free. If you don't like the idea of spending your nights in the garden wth a torch then you could put out slug food (such as bread crusts or old fruit/veg), then in the morning its easier to find them and dispose the same way.

In the long run you could encourage predators like frogs and hedgehogs into your garden.

    Good luck.

Oooh ok, sounds like it could be tricky!

I did a quick google search aswell and found out about slugs not being keen on copper - have you ever tried using copper rings/tape and if so, are they very effective?...
