I have heard that it can be cheaper to buy two tickets for the same trip, but don't get off the train half way through

Here it is, £37.62 each way, much cheaper to fly than travel by train

Or book in advance, we have had some really good deals on train travel between Mcr and London. Virgin really have upped this service making it a pleasurable journey. Cheapest ticket I found £20 single (I had a quick look may be better to be found).
We alway book tickets through to our local station, which has paid off for us, as on the occasion the London train arrives back too late to meet our last local connection, a free taxi is provided to home station (approx £5 local train ticket to Piccadilly Mcr /£30 taxi fare)

I just play about on the Trainline website, AB it usually shows the cheapest journey and number of changes you need to make.
Website works 6 months in advance but train times are not set in stone until 3 months before travel date, so if you need to arrive in London to catch a show or something you may need to consider this.
Trainline are advertising London Euston from Inverness from £38.40 as a fare booked in the last 7 days ( presume this is a single)

Thank you so much buddy....We have been scratching our heads here about how to travel to london with the wee ones in october and the prices we have been giving for a sleeper trains is shocking..If we travel through the day its half the price when travelling at night on the sleeper train..Shocking when we can travel free during the day and costing us a fortune travelling at night:scratch:
