Mine too, apart from my 2 new ones. (Shrub roses planted 2.5 weeks ago and well watered) I'm hoping they're ok. Any way I can check? :noidea:

They'll be fine Charlie, because they are newly planted it takes a while for them to settle their roots before putting on growth. You will have flowers this summer I promise you. :)

Isn't it a lovely sight seeing them come back to life:wub2:

Yesterday morning at the crack of dawn I was staring at a couple of cuttings (I do these crazy things) I'd taken them last year from a derelict cottage I used to play around 40 years ago while my Dad was fishing. One hasn't taken but one has :dancy:.I don't know what variety it is apart from it being a Rambler with small pink blooms .Pure magic:dbgrtmb:

It's magical watching everything come back to life. I can't understand how non gardening folk can't see this. My son is 21 and as far removed from gardening as you can get. A Rose could spring forth and shower him in scented petals and he would just say " oh no, my Versace shirt" or whatever. Totally beyond my understanding, it really is x

Good morning @LyndaG I guess it is an age and generation thing to a lot of youngsters not all but the majority of them:smile:

My lads have no interest in gardening whatsoever ... but then, I wasn't at their age either. Maybe it will grow on them :spinning:

@Lolimac - bravo! :star: Can't wait to see that in flower - and with it holding such precious memories for it, it will be a wonderful addition to your garden.

The one rose in this garden is showing signs of life - which is very pleasing because it took quite a battering when we moved in and doesn't get any sun (light shade you see). It's a gorgeous yellow colour and I'm thinking of planting a clematis to grow with it.

Bit of old die-back going on there, I see. ;) Do you retain those the twiggy laterals (eg one on the right)? I always remove them. I have been pruning all my roses today. and all those spindly laterals came off.

Do you find Royal William has a strong scent (as according to the sellers)? I've not found it anything like as powerful as most of them suggest.
