I finally found some time to give me garden a good clean, I've realised my rhodo doesn't look happy, or is it just me. It gets the morning sun till about 1-2pm. Is there anything I can do to improve the growth.

    Hello Harry.
Rhododendrons like acid soil. Do you know your soil type?

I think I'm right in saying that some Azaleas are more tolerant of less than acidic conditions. Might be worth testing to see what spoil type you have.

yellow leaves, could be too wet, too dry, starved, soil too alkaline, soil compacted.

Wondering what colour flowers your Rhododendron has? I have many and there are a couple of my yellow flowering varieties which have similar foliage "problems". My best guess is that drainage isn't ideal. They really do appreciate free draining moisture retaining acid soils. Some are much fussier that others if ideal growing conditions aren't available. As the specimen isn't very big it might be an idea to lift it (Rhododendrons are very easy to move) and improve the soil with loads of peat or leaf mould and replant.

Try treating the soil with iron sulphate.

I had something similar with a Magnolia grandiflora.
I dug it up. Replanted in a raised bed with well drained soil and treated with iron sulphate. It took a few months, but it eventually improved.
