Hi chums. Thought I'd share a pic of a rose that caught my eye when we were down at the G/C a few months back. Naturally, we bought it and planted it up. It's a new rose from David Austin and apparently I'm one of the privileged few to own it :) This is the first bloom we've had so I would assume it'll only get better ?
    Ok....yer tiz..

here is the description from David Austin Roses

    Lady of Shalott (Ausnyson)
    David Austin Recommended Variety
    Category English Roses
    (English Rose Collection)
    Bred By David Austin
    Flower Type Double/Full Bloom
    Hardiness Very hardy
    Fragrance Medium
    Repeating Excellent

This rose promises to be one of the most robust and hardy roses in our collection. It is also highly resistant to disease and it will bloom with unusual continuity throughout the season. Indeed, it is an ideal rose for the inexperienced gardener.
The young buds are a rich orange-red. These open to form chalice-shaped blooms, filled with loosely-arranged petals. Each petal has a salmon pink upper side which contrasts beautifully with the attractive golden-yellow reverse. The chalice shape means that the undersides of the petals are clearly seen, revealing glimpses of the deeper colour in the heart of the bloom. There is a pleasant, warm, tea fragrance, with hints of spiced apple and cloves. Lady Of Shalott quickly forms a large, bushy shrub with slightly arching stems. The mid-green leaves have attractive, slightly bronzed tones when young.
Named for the Tennyson Society. The name is taken from one of Alfred, Lord Tennysonâ??s favourite poems of the same name; it is the 200th anniversary of his birth this year. In the poem, The Lady of Shalott lived in a castle close to King Arthurâ??s Camelot and was held in a spell until she saw the reflection of Sir Lancelot in a mirror.

Lovely rose Freddy.I can see me trying to find more room in our already overflowing garden to accomadate all these roses I would like to buy.Only problem is Mr Kandy isn't too fussed about roses, but having said that he is the one who prunes all the roses we do have in the garden while I enjoy their beauty:hehe:

One rose I can recommend to buy and that is Deep Secret. It is a lovely deep red colour and the pefume is fantastic.:)
