I had hoped to be further along with my allotment than I am, but alas between, days of raining, a badly bruised finger and Norvo Virus I hadn't managed to get out..

But today, armed with tools, flask of tea, two bottles of luccozade due to being T1 diabetic need emergency supplies... off I went...

This is a picture taken in December when I viewed the plot..

As you can see, in some respects rather over grown in parts...

I have been out a couple of times since January and lifted some potatoes of the top right bed, carrots and parsnips from the top left bed, the leeks well lifted a couple today. And had started to dig out the right bed, but only managed several foot worth of digging

This picture is worked I accomplished today

Finished dig on the 3 March 2015.jpg

I spent roughly 3 hours out at the allotment, as well as digging the right bed fully, I cleared some rubbish off the left top bed, and lifted some rather large weeds.

The started to dig the left hand bed, but this has to be done with a fork, due to being covered in grass and clover! But I'm chuffed with what I've achieved today, and hoping to go out on Friday, as working all weekend and busy week next week.

Good job there Ellie. Is it grass or weeds you are digging up, if grass you should aim to bury it a spade depth - turn it upside down first - then it won't grow back.

JWK, I turned the grass under on the right hand front bed, but on the left hand bed, it's mainly clover and another ground covering weed. it comes up reasonable easily....

I thought I had sussed out roughly what's had been planted where.... the top right bed was spuds, root veg on the top left, leeks on the front left!

But today I'm not so sure, the right bed I've found nothing in, but the other beds seem to have potatoes being turned up... Not sure if this might be left overs from previous crops.

I wanted to get the right hand bed done, so I can get my early spuds in,

If they are quite small and few and far between then probably they are left overs (aka Volunteers).
