I split a Delphinium earlier this year, potted them up and grew them on in the greenhouse, finally planting them out around a month ago. They flowered almost immediately but not to a full bloom as you would expect from one.

If I cut the old flower stems off...will it flower again or is that it now until next year?

    Steve...:)

Hi Steve. A good question, indeed I was wondering about that myself as I too planted some up earlier this year. My feeling is that it's over for this year :(
    Cheers...freddy.

I expect it will flower again. Might not be "fully fledged dephinium" type flower thouse

I've just found via google (which is strange, because I didn't see this on last nights search) that if you cut the old bloom of just underneath the first flowering petal, it will bloom again providing you feed it. Of to grab my pruners...

    Steve...:)

Beautiful colour. Mine have more or less finished now, but I've cut them back and await a second flush...

Delphs and Lupins flower again if you cut the spent flowers off.

Hi Catztail, that is a beautiful shade. It looks healthy too-mine seem to be over but I will cut them down and see what happens.

Delphiniums have a lovely range of colours. :)
