What are the lumps in the roots or this plant?

    Hey,

    Just went to repot my house plant and found these in the roots? Any ideas what they are or what there for? Ive never seen anything like it before. DSC_0099.JPG

    They look like tubers to me, which are structures where the plant stores nutrients for use later. Examples are potatoes and those on dahlias I believe. No doubt someone more knowledgeable will be along in a minute.... :blue thumb:

            Welcome to Gardeners Corner Jen. :) Household plants tend to grow these when the plant is stressed, either pot bound or lacking nutrients or water. I would re-pot the plant into something bigger and trim the roots including the removal of the bulbs.

              Thanks for all the reply's, I didn't know what the plant was, I shall try and grow another plant from the bulblets! :)

                Just be careful planting this in the yard. Very invasive. Still have plants coming up from past owners.
