Hi everyone. I bought some Lampranthus plants last year but I lost two of them through this white blistery looking disease and two through the frosts in the winter. I bought some more this year and have noticed the same white blisters on two of them. Does anyone know if it is a disease or if it something I am doing wrong. I have only had a garden worth looking after for two years now so am still learning :). I love the Lampranthus because they are so colourful so I don't really want to give up on them.
Many Thanks for any advice you can give me
    Jean

    Hi Jeancutmore

    Welcome to the forum.

As far as I'm aware, lampranthus does not suffer from any specific diseases and therefore the "white blisters" are possibly small patches of mildew. A photo would help identification of the disease greatly.

One of the normal ways of combatting mildew is to keep the root area of vulnerable plants moist but this might not be suitable for lampranthus because they like poor soil and arid conditions. You could try washing the "white blisters" off and then spraying with a general purpose fungicide.

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to reply. I found this photo which is exactly what mine look like but they don't tell you how to get rid of it! I don't know if I have attached this correctly but here goes I apologise in advance :)

    Hi Jean

Sorry, I couldn't see your picture. Apparently it was an "invalid attachment".

I suspect the getting rid process will still be broadly the same - try physical removal of the white blisters first i.e. will they wash off? Then a squirt of fungicide.

Hi, I am not surprised the attachment didn't work, I am pretty computer illiterate:hehe:
I did try gently washing the fungus off but it won't budge. I did buy some fungucide spray at the weekend though and have tried that. Fingers crossed.
    Thanks again
    Jean
