    Hi Everyone

I'm new to the forum and after a little bit of advice on stone chippings. I am quite the gardening novice. We are just doing a small project at the moment, our front garden.

We'll be putting a weed membrane down and then covering that with chippings. The question I have is...what chippings!?

What we want is something that will catch and reflect the light but not go green. The front of the house is a little dull.

White chippings. These would probably go green very quickly given that it is North facing and at the bottom of a hill, so gets wet frequently. In my opinion when white chippings go green they don't look great.

I wondered if there were any suggestions?

Maybe something that was a harder compound and less porous might help?

    All advice is appreciated

    Thanks

    Welcome to Gardeners Corner :sign0016:

Slate's probably your best bet, used to live in Wales and the slate heaps certainly didn't go green

Despite the 200 inch a year rainfall.

Llanberis Slate is a nice purple colour.
