I've just watched a documentary film about Sigur Ros called Heima. Having toured (and conquered) the world for years they went home to Iceland and played free gigs around the country. These gigs ranged from church halls to a big open air gig in Reykjavik. They're an incredible live act and Popplagio is often the closing number (if you're not sure wind the vid on to 10 minutes).................

Love Elvis Presley and this is one of my favourite songs that he sang.

Just watching something on 'Yesterday' tv, and they just played this, something I'd completely forgotten. A reminder of the genius of Hendrix....

In 1967 Procol Harum reached No.1 with this record and was No.4 in that year's top 100 chart (Englebert Humperdinck was No.1, No.2, and No.5 in the top 100!!).

All the 'experts' said how deep and meaningful the words were until Procol Harum were interviewed, a few months later, when they said the words were picked out of the air and thrown together and weren't supposed to mean anything! :heehee:

In the same year the Moody Blues got to No.9 with this record but didn't get into the year's top 100!

But in 1964 they got to No.1 with this hit, and made it to No.22 in the top 100 of 1965

Brian Epstein (pictured on the stool at the end of the video) was the manager of The Beatles, Cilla Black, Billy J Kramer, Gerry and the Pacemakers and many others, died of a drug overdose at the age of 32.

                    Hiya @shiney :blue thumb:
'A Whiter Shade Of Pale' is obviously a classic. But in some ways, I prefer this one...

                      Nice one, Freddy :blue thumb:

Yes, it was a good song, which they brought out just after 'Whiter..' and got it to No.6 in the hit parade and No.73 in the top 100.

They didn't release many singles but made a lot of Compilation Albums. :)

This is the sort of thing I cannot get out of my head whilst in the garden. Just runs and runs.

To compound things my mind will tend to change the chorus according to what I am doing at the given time. So "Play it now baby" becomes "prune it now baby" "plant it now baby" etc etc repeat and fade to chorus.

                        Odd but true.

@Paullypaul - Neil Diamond is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. I Am I Said is his finest by a country mile IMO................

I am also partial to a bit of early Billy Joel. I've posted this a few times but it bears repeating............

I heard this on Radio 6 this morning................

I had forgotten just how good Primal Scream were. They were formed in the early eighties by Bobby Gillespie and Jim Beatie whilst Gillespie was still playing drums with the Jesus And Mary Chain. I know that this is a repeat but still pretty much as good as the eighties got..................

All fine tunes Long. The Billy Joel will of course become Paeony Man once it has cycled through my brain a couple of times.
