It always makes me smile when someone so-say 'in the know' describes what an artist is trying to convey with a piece of art. Of course, not everyone will like the same things, but an un-made bed, a pile of bricks?! I could form a pile of doggy-dooz into the shape of a pyramid and say it was a comment on the Pharaohs or something, but in reality, it would just be a pile of doggy-dooz
I'm not a fan of the 'classic' portraits, but can appreciate the skill. I quite like the 'impressionists', and their use of the brush. To me, they are the real artists as I think they are more creative and expressive? I do though quite like some modern art, as I find it quite provocative at times.
Take no notice, I'm just a Philistine

I have to agree totally with this, definitely a case of "The Kings new clothes" tell enough people that something is creative and they will be gullible enough to believe it,
Don't even get me started on Picasso!!! :heehee:

Guessing your not a pollock or basquiat or keith haring fan than either lol

I do love a bit of pollock tho and painting in that style is so much fun. Im naturally messy so pouring paint with a ladle over canvas is great esp cause you cant be neat and tidy with it.

@Dips - the edit was going really well until Scott Naismith got bored and started splodging on dabs of colour onto what was a perfectly good work with his knife (?). Worse still, his ego ran away with him when he signed it :yikes:
On your last two, well I would rather have a Warhol (and I can't stand his work) :sofa:

Strangely I quite like his work. Edvard Munch is better though.

Just laughing at how this has gone from Richard the third to abstract art :heehee:

Not a fan?? I've never even heard of them!!! :th scifD36:

Years ago when I was suffering depression I wanted to buy a copy of his painting "The Scream" I felt then and still do that this picture kind of sums up how depression can feel.

OK, my idea of art is much more conventional, like this!!!! :)
