    Hi all

I bought a load of plants a while ago, most of which had their full botanical and common names on the label, some didn't. This one was in the perennials section and just said 'summer bedding' on the label. To be honest I bought some just to fill a few gaps, but now it is flowering it looks pretty nice so I'd like to buy some more. Trouble is I can't really because I don't know what it is. Any ideas? Sorry for the not so great pic by the way.

Because the pic is not so great, here's a few more clues: The flower head is about 3 cm (just over an inch in old money) across. Lets of low growing pale green foliage at the base, visible (but blurry) in the corner of the terracota coloured planter in the pic. The flowers are on tall, very slender stems, standing about 1 ft tall.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

I've just googled Cosmos. Very very similar but Cosmos looks to have too many petals to be my plant.

    I'm going rock-rose family (Cistaceae)

    **Edit**

I think it might be a Helianthemum

    Thanks all.

Terrier, not nasturtium, sorry. Nasturtium flowers are more conical sort of, and the leaves are quite large.

Aesculus, I don't think its a poppy. Can't be sure though. As far as I know (and I could be very wrong), poppies don't produce new flower buds when you dead head them. No sign of a fat seed head just under the flower like with poppies. I'll google the rock rose and see what comes up.

    Sweatpeas, I'll google anenome.

    Keep the ideas coming folks:)

Well done to woo. I think that's bang on. I've just had a google about and all the descriptions and pics seem to match up exactly.

Thanks all. I knew we'd crack it between us:)

I'd say it is a Geum. I have one exactly the same, but I cannot remember it's name.

Using the lead that woo kindly provided, a bit of googled seems to confirm it is Geum coccineum.
