hi Ian-that is a misconception in the sense that you can do what you want of your "timeline" on Facebook. For example myself I post no personal stuff at all. In that case I would use messages.

For example if you wanted it just for yourself and few members of your family you simply add to your list only those members and keep it private on the settings.

Then there is the "feed wall" where you can read all what people on your list post, as well as posts from "LIKE pages". Even that can be adjusted. If you don't want to read somebody's posts you unfollow them (that does not remove them from the list).

I did notice one thing though. The more like pages you have and the less posts you see of them (Facebook does the selection for you). This is why I put the like pages in my favourite on the pc and visit them from time to time.

Its because facebook want the pages to pay to boost posts.

Its really frustrating when people like your page but only see selective posts. about 20% of my followers see my posts on my business page. It tells you when people
choose the i dont want to see this option and that has happened once so cant explain why only a maximum of 20% of people who like my business page actually see my posts

Its a problem a lot of people are having on facebook because they changed the way the pages operate. I still use facebook for my business but i certainly dont make facebook my priority for my social media. Instagram works a lot better but chances are that will change soon so that it can earn more money too

Sounds to complicated for me :yikes:.
My son showed me his facebook page, there was allsorts of rubbish on it, one was a picture of what someone was having for lunch in KFC ( who cares ), he had over 500 members what ever they are. He's never off his phone, I've banned him from having his phone when we have a meal I was fed up of it going off.
I'm getting to OLD for all this.

I was getting to the point of considering buying a signal blocker to turn on at mealtimes.

We said "I'll see you at 3" and you saw them where you said you'd see them at 3.

Now it's a case of "I'll see you at 3"
1:59: text to ask what you're wearing
2:35 text to check you're still coming
2:50: text to check if you're on your way

3:03: text to say you've found a parking space and will be there soon
3:07: text to ask which side of the building you're on, despite having met in exactly the same place for the past 20 years
5:45: text to say you had a lovely time
6:10: text to check if you're still going to do the same next week
7:20: text to say that it's their daughters wedding which you forgot to mention so won't be meeting up
7:22: text to say you will be meeting up because you're going to the daughters wedding together and how silly you are for forgetting

 I think it is a marvellous piece of kit..
I remember nearly 50 years ago I used to get in my car to the village phone box to phone my girlfriend .
              How primitive was that?

In a private space no problem as I understand it. I believe that Virgin Rail use/used them on designated carriages.

I agree that they are marvelous piece of kit if used in moderation. My rant is rather aimed at those who use it incessantly PS if you go six posts above, there is an excellent example of that.

Woo: I know the DORO phone and it is amazing that in spite of being a made-in-China phone and pretty recent production, some of its characteristics are primitive.

smart phones are the worst invention ever.

Renders conversation useless and archaic amongst the young. I ban the phones that my kids have at mealtimes, and when we are on holiday, otherwise they get flushed.

SELFIES!! What's that all about? The girls look like trout with their lips....

I preferred phone boxes, dossing and retrieving Razzle and Shaven Ravens from the bush on the was to school.... The old days.

Imagine taking a Polaroid of your tea/dog/morning ablutions and running round your friends houses to show them the picture to see if they "LIKED" it?

                  Makes me larf it does.

You wait until Periscope takes off....:roflol:

Our phones are Samsung Tokka Lightes(can't even remember how to spell the name any more)They are ok but getting on a bit now so I would like something a bit more newer but Mr Kandy says we are not paying an arm and a leg for one and then there is the contract price each month as you can't get the phones I like on PAYG.:snork:

Does anyone know if you look at photos on someone's Facebook wall whether that person can tell if you have looked at their photos or not?
