Congrats to all celebrating a special day today. And happy St Georges day to all. Not much enthusiasm ( save for me and a few others ) for it around these parts, most of the people at work were asking why a few people were flying England flags, they thought that the football team might be playing
I've just been ringing bells for St George's Day, several towers round here have been ringing. This is a new thing, don't remember it happening years ago, although, to be fair, I might have been living in Wales then!
@Madahhlia no we have never rung for St Georges Day here so far.. I am out of action at the moment due to Carpel Tunnel problems.. Although I did have a ring for a while for a friends funeral on No.1 Bell the lightest for a while before another ringer took over.. Do you have a favourite bell in you like to ring.?
@ Marley Farley , we apparently got thanked and congratulated by some council for the encouragement of St George's day for giving our time! I like ringing the treble (lightest #1 bell) mainly because I find it much easier to remember what to do in change-ringing as it's a regular pattern. That way I can relax and enjoy the ringing more. But I try to ring every bell that's realistic for me to handle. I've been getting Carpal tunnel syndrome as well - hope it's nothing to do with ringing!
@Madahhlia Yes I like 1 2 & 3 best No.2 being my favourite some of the Peels and rounds are pretty difficult to change & keep in time to until you have them set in your brain.. I have been known to get confused... My Carpel tunnel syndrome has been with me for many years too.. I don't think ringing helps but mine was also aggravated by archery a mowing job I had and just life in general.. I also have bad tennis elbow, so none of that helped the ringing in the end.. I really noticed the carpel tunnel problems when the bell rope just slid through my hands on odd occasions, not enough grip.. Luckily was able to get it under control but ended up with some of nasty bruises and burns... That is dangerous to all not just the bell, so have stopped for the moment.. Enjoy your time,,
Happy St Georges Day Congrats on 38 years together Mr & Mrs @Paladin Congrats on 11 years together Mr & Mrs @HarryS
