Hi everyone, just joined so thought I'd say hi.
We've been growing our own chillies, tomatoes, aubergines and a few other veg and flowers for a few years now but since moving back in January into our new house we now have a much bigger garden to grow much more.

The garden is very over grown at the moment so this year is going to be spent mostly landscaping and clearing ready for next year.

I joined as we are going to probably be asking for a lot of advice of different things but found the forum after a Google search trying to see if there was any way of saving our tomatoes and chillies. We went away over the weekend and came back today and our 14 year old neighbour was suppose to be being the plants in at night as we only have cold frames at the moment until the greenhouse is put up and she forgot to bring them in. So we came back today to find this image.jpg

Ouch, Nigel!!! I'm not usually a pessimist or negative but................:dunno: If all your plants are like that they're badly "burnt". There are some very knowledgeable and experienced members who might be able to offer a solution. The only thing I think is worth trying is to get rid of the "burnt" foliage and affected stems parts and then leave them in the warmth of the Green House to see if they will sprout new growth from below.:coffee:

@Nigel84 Sadly it looks pretty far gone. It may shoot from buds at the base of the leaves but only faint chance. If that was a tomato then the chillis have had it as they are more tender than tomatoes.
Where in the country are you?
It is not too late to start again from seed. Cropping will be later, but you may be pleasantly surprised and there is always green tomato chutney.

Welcome to GC Nigel84. Sorry, I think it's to late to rescue the plants. The soil in that pot looks very dry too and tomatoes need plenty of water.

I agree with NigelJ it's not to late to start again and I think it's best you give your plant babysitter her marching orders. :)

Hello and welcome to the forum NigelI84, I have to agree with the others, those plants have had it, there is no chance they will recover.

Hi Nigel, a very warm welcome to GC and hope you enjoy your time here with us. I'm definitely not an expert, but I agree with the rest of the folks here, the plant is definitely not well..... My advice is bin it and start again from scratch. Good luck!

Thanks for all the welcomes and replies.

I did think they would be too far gone. Luckily I still have lots of seeds left so will start again and see how they go.

We are based in Wiltshire, just outside Swindon.

                      Hello, and welcome from Belgium.

Sorry to see your plants got a chill. I agree with the others, re-sow the tomatos (but you may find the chillies struggle to catch up...).

I am sure you will find lots of help and support here. A friendly bunch, indeed!!
